Finger Lakes Gallery & Frame is pleased to announce the "Some Of My Best" Photography Contest and Exhibit. This will be a juried show with cash prizes.
Images selected by the judges will be on display and available for sale at Finger Lakes Gallery & Frame in Canandaigua, New York from April 5, 2012 through April 28, 2012.
An opening night artist reception will be held on Thursday April 5, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. We expect many of the artists to be on hand to discuss their work.
How to Enter
Guidelines for Juried Photo Submissions
- Images for consideration must be presented in JPEG (.jpg) format and sized to 1000 pixels at their largest dimension (height or width)
- The base element of each submitted image must have a photographic origin
- All entries must be of original design and personal execution
- Photo may not contain the name or identifiable likeness of any person, living or dead, without permission
- Photo may not contain any personal identification, such as phone numbers, license plate numbers, street addresses, or e-mail addresses of anyone other than the artist
- Photo may not contain copyrighted materials owned by others (including, but not limited to texts, photographs, paintings, sculptures, and other works of art), without permission
- Photo may not include images of trademarks, corporate logos, service marks, or other proprietary materials owned by others, without permission
- Each submitted image must be labeled with the digital file name, title of the image, and the artist's name
- Submissions that are not labeled will be disqualified
- Deliver or mail submissions to FLG&F, 175 South Main Street, Canandaigua, NY 14424
- Entry must be delivered by the close of business on March 10, 2012
- Email submissions must be dated by 5:30 p.m. EST on March 10, 2012

Conditions of Entry
- Photographer will set sale price and agree to 25% commission to FLG&F on all sales made during the exhibition
- A sale price, which includes the commission free, must be included on the submission form
- Photographer grants permission for Finger Lakes Gallery & Frame to use any ACCEPTED images for promotional purposes for the duration of the contest
Notice of Acceptance
- Final selection of exhibited photographs will be made by the judges
- Letter of acceptance notifications will be sent by March 14, 2012
Exhibit Prints (accepted works)
The following information includes specifications for sizing ACCEPTED works:
- Minimum image size is 8 inches on the shortest side, NOT including any mat or frame
- Maximum image size is 30 inches on the longest side, NOT including any mat or frame
- Maximum overall image size is 42 united inches (height plus width...16x20 is 36 united inches), NOT including any mat or frame
- All paper printed images must include at least one surrounding photo mat, color determined by artist
- All paper printed images must include a professional-quality frame that is wired and ready for installation
- All canvas printed images must be mounted or stretched, and wired, ready for installation
- FLG&F reserves the right to refuse any entry because of special conditions of installation or if the quality of the work was not accurately represented in the submitted image.
Winner Selection
- All eligible entries will be juried and winners determined by our judges, whose decisions regarding this show are final and binding in all respects
- Winners will be announced at the Artist's Receception on April 5, 2012
- One (1) First Prize: The artist with the highest score will receive a check for $300 and have the option of having their work on display and available for sale at FLG&F for three months
- One (1) Second Prize: The artist with the second highest score will receive a check for $200 and have the option of having their work on display and available for sale at FLG&F for two months
- One (1) Third Prize: The artist with the third highest score will receive a check for $100 and have the option of having their work on display and available for sale at FLG&F for one month
Exhibit Preparation Available
- As an option, FLG&F offers the following pricing for all accepted submissions
- Suitable wood or metal frame, foam mount board, drymounting, single photo mat, and UV filtered glass - $1.25 per united inch
- Images printed on canvas can be mounted on a wooden frame, trim finished, and wired - $1.25 per united inch
- Photos that need to be framed by FLG&F should be delivered to the gallery by March 26, 2012
- Please contact FLG&F with any questions about the presentation for your accepted image
Liability/Delivery/Retrieval
- FLG&F insures all art while on site for the insurance value stated on the submission form. The artist is responsible for insurance on any shipping to and from FLG&F
- All ACCEPTED artwork must arrive at FLG&F between Thursday March 29 and Monday April 2, 2012, ready to install. FLG&F hours are Thursday 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., and Monday 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
- Artists are responsible for all delivery costs including insurance. Work that is shipped must be packed in a substantial, reusable container. FLG&F is not responsible for any damage that occurs during shipping.
- Artist can not withdraw work prior to the end of the exhibit, April 28, 2012
- Artwork must be picked up on Monday, April 30th between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., or by appointment. If artist is unable to pick up immediately after exhibit, shipping arrangements should be arranged and are the responsibility of the artist.

- Notice of acceptance mailed: March 14, 2012
- ACCEPTED photos that need to be framed by FLG&F should be delivered to the gallery by March 26, 2012
- ACCEPTED photos that are ready to install should be delivered to the gallery March 29, 2012 - April 2, 2012
- Exhibition dates: April 5, 2012 - April 28, 2012
- Artist's Reception: April 5, 2012 - 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
